The Wood Box Bat House
Bats are dangerous in the house,
however, we believe they can be of great service
when living outside the home. The feeding diet common to
oklahoma bats consists
mainly of insects and fruits.
Bats are incredible hunters and often chase down their prey while in flight. The mosquito is one of the bat's
favorite foods and just one bat can
consume thousands of mosquitoes every night.
In fact, only .05% of bats carry rabies, whereas mosquitoes
carry many more possibilities for disease, illness and infection.
Having a bat house, also called a box, is not only a great way to make your back yard more enjoyable
through affordable mosquito control, but it's also great way to be an integral part of mother nature and
support wildlife and bat conservation at the same time.

House Plans, Installation and Getting Established
Installing boxes helps support bat conservation
and they offer an affordable mosquito control method. That's why we feel they can be a valuable
part of any exclusion or attic bat removal services.
Boxes encourage bats to stay around and help with
potential mosquito problems and help balance the ecosystem. In other words, even if you
are removing bats from inside your home, it is nice to give them a roosting spot outside.
We recommend installing 2 bat houses on or close to your home,
at least 15' high, one in the sun and one in the shade.
It can take anywhere from a few days to several years to see occupancy in your bat boxes.
Choose your boxes carefully, as not all houses are created equal.
Do not buy junk, unproven houses. You will be disappointed.
Look for quality
in design and plan ahead, a 300 bat capacity may sound like a lot of bats, but actually, it is not.
The more, the merrier. More bats equal more fun, and fewer mosquitoes. You can
expect to pay $75 plus for a quality 3 tiered bat house that consistently has an 80% occupancy rate.
There are places to go to find plans if you want to design and build your own wooden box, however,
chances are if it is not tested by a wildlife expert in the process, you may not get the results you want.
We offer quality bat boxes that are designed not
only to attract bats, but for maximum occupancy as well.
We would be happy to assist you if you do not wish to set them up yourself,
and we often install and bait houses for our clients and like to include them as part
of our exclusion services.
