Would you like to get paid to do what you love? Would you like to show the world that nuisance wildlife does not have to be trapped, relocated or euthanized to be controlled? Do you have common sense? Would you like to start your new career as a Wildlife Management Professional today?
Ned humanely solving a possum wildlife problem
Bats, squirrels, raccoons, snakes, opossum and other wild critters move into attics, crawl spaces and other hard to reach places. Our job is to get wildlife out and keep wildlife out. It is very fun and rewarding, but it is also hard work. If you want your own branch office, you will need your own truck, and of course, money. Regardless if you want to have your own office or be an employee, you will need your own tools. This is demanding and rewarding work, but also a super-niche career with upward advancements available. The Skunk Whisperer® training can secure you a profitable and rewarding wildlife career, making you much more money than as a biologist or zookeeper - while helping wildlife and people in the process. You will receive unique, cutting edge, hands-on and real life training regardless of whether you want your own office or if you want to leave those challenges to others. You will receive some of the most comprehensive and unique training available in the industry. You will learn how to change and take control of your life and make a lucrative living in the process. We're proud of our "boot camp-style" training and have had military personnel with overseas combat missions under their belt actually drop out.
We are currently looking for two types of people:
1. Serious men and women that would like to be trained in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and then re-locate to a market in another area.
2. Serious men and women that would like to be trained in Oklahoma, and help run operations here and train others who choose to re-locate to a different market.
Our humane wildlife management professionals are responsible for removing "nuisance" wildlife in both urban and rural settings. We are not a trapping or wild animal relocation company. Our methods do not typically put you in contact with the animal, but be ready - hands on removal is sometimes mandatory. We will not needlessly kill, trap or relocate troublesome wildlife. If you want to euthanize animals, or shoot at critters, this opportunity is not for you. Our proven humane methods are what make us different from other wildlife control companies, along with doing the job right the first time.
Our time is valuable, so calls and e-mails may not be returned if we do not have a properly submitted resume and cover letter. This page will give you a better look at the positions and upward advancement opportunities available, up to and including your own franchised Skunk Whisperer location. If you are interested in your own franchise, or you want to be an employee, please submit a proper cover letter and resume in Word format. Please know that if your cover letter or resume refer to this opportunity as a "job" vs. "career", you will likely not hear from us. We don't have the time or desire to train individuals who just want a job or want to be on television. This is not a job, and not only a career; this is a way of life.
For you, this will be a career change and a change of life style. You will be in charge of giving clients' their peace of mind and home back to them while humanely evicting wildlife back into their own eco-system and same territory. You will be successfully doing what most people in our industry say cannot be done. At the end of the day, you will know that you are making our world a better place and feel as though you accomplished something for yourself, wildlife and clients.
A few other things you'll need to be ready for. This career involves extensive work on roofs, ladders, in attics and crawl spaces. You must be able to lift heavy ladders, fit through small holes and lift your own weight. Weekend and evening work is sometimes required. You will be required to work in all types of weather at all times of the year. You will make basic repairs using basic hand tools. You cannot be scared of heights or people. We prefer people with a Military background, but this is not required. You will not be guaranteed employment just because you have served our great United States.
Background Investigations & Drug Testing
You will be required to undergo a background investigation, drug testing and a D.M.V. investigation. In order to do wildlife control for a living, you'll have to have state and federal permits which mandate semi-spotless records. You will likely be on the company's auto-insurance, so your D.M.V. record will affect our insurance rates. If you do not have a hunters education certificate or are not old enough to have it waived, you will need to have the certificate prior to employment or opening your own office. If we're filming for Animal Planet or the Discovery Network, you'll also undergo an intensive background investigation, including your juvenile records. Background blemishes will not exclude you, but will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
We need the following questions addressed by ALL parties in writing before contacting you:
Do you have the basic commercial tools such as a drill, circular saw, jig saw, sawzall, tin snips and a caulk gun? Do you have experience with hardy board? Replacing soffit and fascia? Do you have experience tooling silicone or caulk? These skills can be taught, but you must want to learn and you are more valuable to us if you have these skills already. Because it is applicable, what is your height and weight? Are you afraid of heights? Are you willing and able to spend a majority of your work day moving and climbing 32' aluminum ladders, working in high places and walking on roofs? Are you physically agile, capable of carrying heavy ladders and able to lift your own weight? Are you able to work in tight, dark, confined or cramped spaces? Have you previously supervised work crews or other individuals? Would you like to own your own business, or would you rather leave those challenges to someone else? Are you flexible regarding travel and/or relocation? Do you have ability to pass a drug test, a D.M.V. check, and background screening? Are you comfortable talking to others and working with homeowners and the general public? How many miles and minutes are you from the main post office in the town where you would like to work?
Field Professional Positions
As a Humane Wildlife Management Professional field operator/handy man/woman, you would spend 80% of your physically demanding days on a ladder and a roof in all weather conditions doing simple repairs in what can be considered difficult to reach areas. The humane way of wildlife control is not usually the quick and easy way. Upper body strength for ladder control and being very agile is mandatory. If you are scared of multi-tasking, responsibility, being asked to use common sense to solve problems on your own, having your work re-checked for quality control, reading a lot in order to learn more about wildlife, working alone, hard work, wild animals, getting dirty, hot or cold weather, rain, snow, talking to people, heights, and having intense checks run on your background, drug use and driving record, this may not be for you. This career isn't for everybody, but it is the only career and way of life for others.
Field Professional pay is hourly or salary, greatly depending on your construction skills, quick learning, willingness to further educate yourself about wildlife via extra-curricular reading, multi-tasking, leadership, self-starting, emergency call availability, and organizational skills. You will typically work alone and in all weather positions. Specialty tools are typically provided by each Skunk Whisperer® office.
If you are looking for employment in an existing Skunk Whisperer® office, living in the general area is mandatory because of emergency call response time. For example, sometimes it may be difficult to respond to a Tulsa call within one hour, while living in Tulsa. Adding drive time from towns 15 minutes or more away severely depredates our emergency response time, therefore hindering our clients.
